missionThe Northern Plains Tobacco Prevention Project was established in the mid 90’s and received substantial funding from the CDC-OSH in 2000 to lead efforts in the four-state area, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota, to reduce addictive commercial tobacco use and second hand smoke exposure among American Indians. In 2008 we recognized a need for asthma education in Indian country.  From that effort, the Asthma Prevention Campaign was born.  The program is proactive and works to support the efforts of the overall Mission Statement of the Aberdeen Area Tribal Chairmen’s Health Board
